Krispy Kreme’s Question: Are You Sweet Or Savory?

One word would pretty much sum up what Krispy Kreme is – sweet. Almost all their delectable treats on their menu is sweet and most people can’t even finish one doughnut. This is the reason why Pinoys generally consider the doughnut as a snack or post-meal dessert as opposed to a meal equivalent. Krispy Kreme’s head for Research and Development Ric Cavanaugh shared that most of the company’s US stores are busier during the 6-10 AM time block since Americans consider doughnuts as breakfast food as well.

To adapt to the Asian markets and the Filipino palate, Krispy Kreme has recently release a line of new treats that could be very filling for those wanting a non-sweet treat from the shop. Krispy Kreme now has two new products – the pull aparts and the kruffins. And yes, Manila is the first Asian city to experience these new products.

The Pull Aparts’ name should give you an idea on how they should be eaten. You literally pull the little pieces apart. This makes this treat very easy to eat. The middle still has a hole and each variant has a special filling. Pull Aparts sell for P75 and come in four different variants – cheese, bacon and cheese, sausage and cheese and cinnamon. I tried out the cinnamon and it was really good. It’s taste and consistency was very comparable to the other cinnamon rolls that I’ve tried in the past. It was very easy to eat as well.

The Kruffins is a new line of muffins with a Krispy Kreme twist. The Kruffins have a hole in the middle that is filled with really delectable treats. The muffins sell for P65 and come in variants including Double Chocolate, Apple Streusel, Blueberry and Classic Kruffin.
